These are indeed unprecedented times and we've all had to make adjustments to our lives. If your wedding plans have changed to a smaller, more intimate wedding, reception or elopement I would love to hear from you. Please contact me and include the details about your event and I'll create a custom package of services especially for you.
Do an online search for "wedding photography styles" and you'll find these to be among the most common: classic photography, natural light photography, lifestyle photography, documentary/photojournalistic photography and fine art/dramatic photography. It's my opinion that all of these approaches are important to be an excellent, well rounded, wedding photographer. I love anticipating and capturing candid moments as well as posing clients in ways in which they have fun and look their best. There's almost nothing better than shooting portraits in beautiful, natural light, but I equally enjoy using flash units to create interesting, creative light or to brighten up a cloudy day or dark reception venue. Look for a mix of these different styles as you browse my portfolio.
How much time do I need for photography on my wedding day?
8 hours is the sweet spot for most weddings except cases in which there's a long ceremony, such as a Catholic Mass or there are several locations involved that require travel. I will help you to create a wedding day photography timeline so you'll be able to enjoy the day to its fullest.
We feel awkward taking posed pictures. Can you help?
Absolutely, I will teach you how to "pose" in less than 5 minutes in a way that will give you confidence. More importantly your "posed" pictures will be prompted, not static, so you'll look and feel natural. Your parents and grandparents will want some pictures of you looking directly at the camera. I call these mantle piece portraits and these shots can be accomplished in a natural way as well.
Will I get the digital files?
Yes, all of my wedding packages include the ready to use, high resolution digital files. You will be able to download your files from a private online gallery that can also be shared with family and friends. Additionally, reasonably priced prints from a professional lab will be available directly through your online gallery.
Is a second professional photographer included?
I have package options that include a second professional photographer.
Do you deliver every image you shoot?
No, I have a careful culling process. I usually take 2-3 shots together and select the best from each group. I typically deliver 500-1000+ pictures from an 8 hour wedding day.
Do I need an engagement session?
The main benefit of an engagement session, other than the pictures, is the opportunity that it will give us to work together prior to the wedding. I will instruct you on simple posing techniques and the rapport that we build will carry over to the wedding day. The pictures are also great to use as save the date cards and in your guest book. I recommend that you do your engagement session at least 6 months before the wedding if you plan use the pictures on your save the date cards.
Do you offer albums?
Yes, it's my hope that your wedding pictures will be part of your legacy for generations. The albums that I offer are simple, elegant and archival, the style and workmanship are designed to stand the test of time.
What kind of gear do you use?
I use Canon professional cameras and lenses. My cameras have dual card slots so there's a backup in case one of the memory cards malfunctions.
Are you comfortable working in poor lighting conditions?
Yes, I favor the beautiful images that can be captured with natural lighting, but I'm well trained in the use of professional lighting equipment for days in which the weather doesn't cooperate. I also use supplemental lighting in low light situations such as reception venues and for my creative signature images.
